Mountain tour: Gerlossteinwand (2,166 m)
By car or bus to the base station of the cable car "Gerlossteinbahn" in Hainzenberg. The cable car takes you quickly to the starting point of the hike - to the mountain hotel "Gerlosstein". Directly at the top station the trail starts on the right hand side in direction to the Gerlossteinwand. After a short walk you reach a small junction below two small wooden huts. Then the trail goes straight on to the steep ascent. The way back from the summit leads down towards the Freikopf, junction left, a short ascent (5 minutes) until the notch, downhill from there to the Steinkar and Heimjoch. From the Heimjoch the trail leads left to the starting point. Also possible in the opposite direction! Walking time from the summit of the Gerlossteinwand to the starting point of the hike approx. 1.5 hours.
Circular hike: Sonnalm - Ramsberg
Take the Ramsberg lift in Ramsau to the Sonnalm hut. Here the circular walk starts along the road leading into the valley. Walk to the first bend, where a gate is. Cross it and follow the somewhat overgrown road, which leads you directly to the trail to the Kotahorn Alm hut. Then follow the road leading out of the valley, which takes you directly to the mountain hotel "Gerlosstein". Shortly before the hotel there is a fork in the road. If you go left down the valley, you will come back again to the starting point of the hike.
Walking time approx. 2.5 to 3 hours
Gerlosstein - Laberg - Brandberg - Steinerkogel
By car or bus to the base station of the cable car "Gerlossteinbahn" in Hainzenberg. The cable car takes you quickly to the starting point of the hike - to the mountain hotel "Gerlosstein". From the mountain hotel "Gerlosstein" two trails lead to the South. The upper road takes you to the Kotahorn Alm hut. Just below the hut a trail begins that leads into the valley, first to the Karlalm and then to the Labergalm. At the Labergalm follow the ridge downhill. The trail leads past huts and through a forest, where the trail often crosses a road. After leaving the forest, you can already see the Steinerkogelhaus. Below the Steinerkogelhaus there is a crossroad. Going right at the crossroad, you reach Mayrhofen in about 1.5 hours. If you follow the trail straight ahead, you reach the village of Brandberg in about 0.5 hours - bus stop. Total walking time to Brandberg approx. 3 hours. Total walking time to Mayrhofen approx. 4 hours.
Maria Rast - pilgrimage chapel
From the "Gasthof Waldheim" (Gerlosstraße - driveway Hainzenberg) on the right over the Stations of the Cross (way no. 8) past the "Lourdes grotto" to the pilgrimage chapel Maria Rast (build in 1738). Above the same way back to the starting point.
